YouTube in projection

The YouTube video goes with the song — not as a separate file, not as a link you open in another tab. Linked to the song, controlled by the desk, projected only on the second screen.

Linking a video

In the song record, there's a YouTube URL field. Paste the video link (supported formats: youtube.com/watch?v=..., youtu.be/..., or shorts). Save. Done.

During the service, a red ▶ button appears next to the active song in the timeline — discreet indicator that a video is available.

Two playback modes

Each song with a video gets two buttons on the desk:

| Button | Mode | |---|---| | ▶ | Fullscreen video — official clip, original behavior | | 🔊 | Audio only — lyrics projected normally, video sound in the background |

▶ mode (video)

The video plays fullscreen on the second screen. Controls stay on the desk: play, pause, mute, volume, start point. The operator stays free on the desk while the clip runs — no distraction on the operator's screen.

🔊 mode (audio only)

Useful when the band plays live following a recorded track. Plays only the audio from YouTube while the song lyrics are projected normally. The operator navigates slides with Space following the singing rhythm, without affecting playback.

Ideal for:

  • Recorded accompaniment when there's no full live band
  • Backing track during rehearsal or small service
  • Musical interlude with lyrics on screen

Preserved state

This is the part that matters when something goes wrong on Sunday:

If the second screen closes accidentally, or is switched to another monitor mid-song, Salterium saves the exact video position. When the second screen reopens, the video picks up where it left off — no rebuffer, no jumping to the start.

The same guarantee applies when you switch between versions in different languages: change from the Portuguese video to the English one and playback continues from the same musical point.

Audio coordination

When the second screen is open, the video plays there and column 3 of the desk mirrors in mute. When the second screen is closed, the desk plays normally. Never two audios competing, never silence.

YouTube in notices

Notices can also contain YouTube videos — useful for retreat invitations, institutional videos, musical vignettes. See Projectable notices for details.

Audio coordination is the same: when the active notice has a video and the second screen is open, the desk silences automatically.

Limitations

  • The video must be public on YouTube. Private or unlisted videos don't work due to YouTube's own restrictions.
  • No local download. Playback depends on internet connection — if the church's network is unstable, the video may pause to buffer.
