Profile and security
The Salterium account is yours — it's not the church's. You can belong to more than one church with the same account, and what changes between them is your role (administrator, editor, operator, viewer). But the e-mail, name, and password are unique.
The user menu
In the top-right corner of the desk there's a circular avatar with your initial. Click and the menu opens:
- My profilename, photo, email
- Change passwordcurrent + new password
- Themesepia · slate · paper · carbon
- Sign out
The dropdown first shows who you are: name, e-mail, and the active role in the current church. Below, the available actions:
- My profile — name, photo, e-mail
- Change password — current password + new password
- Theme — opens the theme picker (sepia · slate · paper · carbon)
- Sign out — ends the session
Updating the profile
The profile page has three editable fields:
Name — as it appears in the menu, topbar, and invitations to others (when you invite someone, the e-mail mentions "Matthew invited you").
Photo (optional) — goes in the avatar circle. If blank, shows the initial of the name.
E-mail — used for login and password recovery. Changing the e-mail requires confirmation via a link sent to the new address — protection against account hijacking.
Changing the password
The password change page asks for three things:
- Current password — confirms it's actually you
- New password — minimum 8 characters
- Confirm new password — same thing again, to avoid typos
Click Save. The next time you log in, use the new password. Sessions open in other browsers are not automatically ended — if you suspect unauthorized access, log in at the other place and use Sign out there too.
Use a strong, unique password — combine letters, numbers, and special characters. If you'll share your computer with the church team, consider creating one account per person (see the Team and permissions page) instead of sharing the password.
Forgot your password?
The login screen has a Forgot my password link. Type the e-mail and Salterium sends a unique link to that address — valid for 24h. Clicking the link, you set a new password without needing to know the old one.
If the e-mail doesn't show up in the inbox within a few minutes:
- Check the spam folder
- Confirm you typed the right e-mail
- If still nothing, talk to your church's administrator — they can re-sync your registration
Multiple churches
When you belong to more than one church, the church selector appears in the top-left corner of the topbar. Click and switch — everything else in the application reflects the chosen church (library, timeline, themes, permissions). Your personal registration stays the same.
Inviting another person? Each church invites separately — invitations are always tied to a specific church.
Password policy
| Criterion | Rule | |---|---| | Minimum length | 8 characters | | Validity | No automatic expiration | | History | Doesn't prevent reusing an old password | | Failed attempts | Limited — temporarily blocks after multiple errors | | Storage | Strong, modern cryptography, never in plain text |
